Dreams come true
HKUE is a place where Anson was enlightened. Anson is currently working as a sommelier in a 1 start Michelin restaurant. Being a sommelier is his dream job. It was a turning point in his life when he had a wine class from HKUE. "I wanted to be a bartender in the beginning, I didn't have a goal before. In the wine class, it was definitely an eye-opening experience to learn about wine. It aroused my interest to develop in this direction.”
Learning and Self-growth
Anson admits that his DSE results were not ideal, but he knows himself very well that the service industry is his favorite direction. "The curriculum support of the programmes in HKUE was well-equipped, we could also go abroad for exchange and internship. The biggest benefit was that we could experience foreign education, practical classes and examination systems. The training and presentation standing in front of people was a big challenge for me.” Unexpectedly, Anson, who is cheerful, outgoing and talkative, used to be a reserved person!
Greatest achievement
"When I help customers with Food and Wine Pairing, I have my greatest sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when I get the recognition from the customers and see them smiling while tasting the food and wine I pair for them." Anson was touched that he was encouraged by the customers when he was at a low point in his life. The support of the customers is his motivation.
Anson hopes to promote the wine culture, and to educate students who are interested in wine. He wishes the students to find their interests to develop.
